There will be 2 OSs : LarpOS CORE and LarpOS Desktop CORE is strictly barebone, no wm, no DE ; Desktop offers different wms and DEs, you choose the ones you want on install 1) original package manager (waste of time) 2) rice manager (named dotto) (can be pulled with package manager, only included in DESKTOP version) (cool idea) (automated configuration manager, keeps everything in check, gets any needed dependencies, etc) (backup the previous configuration of any changed files so if you did dotto remove <package_name> you'd go back to your previous state) 3) cute neofetch (kek) 4) kernel menuconfig at install time (should be optional) (only on LarpOS Core) 5) ncurse text install (yes, sounds 1337 enough for /g/ rice kiddies) 6) new logo!!! (https://i.4cdn.org/g/1535246591945.png) Update: 7) default shell? rc, busybox, mksh etc. 8) coreutils? busybox, sbase, stripped-down GNU 9) LibreSSL 10) no Wayland by default 11) qt-based installer for liveusb 12) markdown man pages (?) Exclude programs: Tentative idea: prefer bundled software over separate programs (should ask /g/ first) Examples: * tmux replaces less (as in Morpheus) * emacs replaces info, man and provides lightweight browser and mail clients * interfaces to package managers written in elisp
